Events Programme — Next Year

We will be building next year’s programme as we go through this year, with core events from the outset and adding other events throughout the year.

  • It means the following year’s programme will be finalised earlier than usual
  • It enables better discussion about — and refinement of — each event
  • It allows those with busy schedules to ‘pencil in’ sailing time well in advance

Draft Programme

The following table shows the events we’re considering for next year, and it will be updated throughout the season. Note: You can click on a row to display (or hide) a brief description of the proposed event.

Provisional26 - 27 MarThu 5pm to Fri 4.30pm1Boat Handling Day - March1 / 4Hamble95 or 170 (*)
This is a one-day boat handling course, run by Fairview on one of their Oceanis 37s. It’s a great opportunity to brush up on your boat handling skills, taught by the professionals. Lunch is included, and there are several hotel and B&B options available nearby. The standard Fairview price for the course is £189 (TBC for next year), but booking through the club enables a 10% discount, so £170.10 to pay.
For those on the boat handling day on 11-Apr (the Friday of the Kick Start Weekend), there may be the option to stay on the boat on the Thursday evening; please ask if you’d like this option.
(*) Active skipper discount: The club is keen to promote training and will subsidise this course for active skippers, effectively resulting in a 50% discount of the standard Fairview price, so just £95 to pay. To qualify for this discounted price the attendee must be a current paid up member and commit to skippering an event within 12 months of the course, subject to availability of events (i.e. no disruptions to the programme such as extended lockdowns). The active skipper discount is also available on similar courses closer to you if available: just ask!
Provisional27 - 29 MarFri 5pm to Sun 4pm2Kick Start Weekend1 / 8Hamble185 - 240
Occurring on the weekend before Easter, this is a great opportunity to blow away those wintery cobwebs and get out on the water. The mornings and evenings can be a bit chilly but when wrapped up warm, the sun is shining and the air is fresh, what more do you need?
Provisional11 - 15 MayMon to Fri4Scottish Sailing May Mid-Week1 / 6Scotland
We’re always keen to have an event in the programme based in the beautiful Scotland! After initial contact with potentially interest parties, this year we’re looking for a mid-week (Mon-Fri) charter from Largs, Ardfern, Craobh (Lochgilphead), Dunstaffnage (Oban) or Lerwick (Shetland). You'll be cruising our lovely, deep Scottish waters, with a chance of seeing plenty of wildlife. Getting sufficient numbers and then finding a yacht to charter is always difficult for the Scottish trips, so early booking is essential please!
Note: Two dates available; see the other Scotish Sailing event in the programme.
Provisional22 - 25 MayFri to Mon3Cross-Channel Bank Holiday Dash1 / 8Solent
Making the most of the bank holiday weekend, this event is looking to depart asap on the Friday evening for an overnight 'dash' across the Channel to the Cherbourg peninsula. What could be better than starting Saturday with a proper French croissant and café? There will be plenty of time to buy some lovely French delicacies (& maybe un peu de vin!), and enjoy more French cuisine, before departing late Sunday or Early Monday back to the UK.
Note: Other cross-Channel routes possible: very open to suggestions from those interested.
Provisional13 - 20 JunSat to Sat7Canal Boating Week1 / 8TBC
Provisional9 - 12 JulThu to Sun3Round the Island Race1 / 8Solent
One of the world’s most famous annual yacht races, with nearly 1,500 yachts and 15,000 sailors competing in a one-day race around the Isle of Wight. It truly lives up to its reputation as a ‘Race for All’ welcoming sailors from all over the world, with professional sailors, families and first-time racers competing next to one another around the stunning coastline of the Isle of Wight. Important: The deadline for booking this event is the 29th February.
Note: Unless otherwise stated, pricing does not include the race entry fee or overnight berthing.
Provisional18 - 25 JulSat to Sat7Mediterranean Cruise1 / 8TBC
Following the fantastic success of previous years’ Mediterranean cruises, we’re offering another one in 2025. This will be a week-long event based out of Biograd na Moru, nr. Zadar, Croatia. Those already interested in the trip have confirmed the dates as stated, found a suitable charter boat and are again looking to travel early (Friday) to keep charter check-in day a bit easier. The charter cost is confirmed at £3,900 (FX depending), and so the sailing fee of £585 to £810 per person gives a healthy start to the trip’s kitty too.
Update: Cosmopolitan (Hanse 508) has now been confirmed as booked for the club. She is a beautiful 50' yacht commissioned in 2020 with excellent accommodation and equipment.
Provisional4 - 6 SepFri to Sun2City Sailing Series - Finn Trophy and Spread Eagle Regatta1 / 8Hamble
Dates are TBC
Arguably the main event of the City Sailing Series, this one being organised by the Lloyds Insurance, Baltic & Stock Exchanges, with Saturday dinner in the Royal Yacht Squadron (TBC) in Cowes. It should be a superb weekend! More information can be found at www.citysailingseries.com.
Provisional14 - 18 SepMon to Fri4Scottish Sailing September Mid-Week1 / 6Scotland
We’re always keen to have an event in the programme based in the beautiful Scotland! Provisional23 - 25 OctFri 5pm to Sun 4pm2End of Summer Weekend1 / 8Hamble290 - 370
Occurring on the last full weekend in October, this is the most popular of all the club’s events and a great opportunity to catch up with lots of club members. The semi-formal Saturday evening dinner (included in the sailing fee) is a great social event: venue suggestions are welcome.
The higher than usual cost is an estimate and covers the charter of a larger yacht, such as a Dufour 460 GL (as per last year). Final pricing will depend on bookings.
Provisional24 OctSat to Sat1EoS Dinner Only1 / 8Solent
Those who can’t come along to the End of Season Rally are welcome to join everyone for dinner on the Saturday evening, venue TBC (but likely somewhere on or near the Solent).

The draft programme data feed was last updated on Sunday, 23-Mar-25 11:56:08 UTC.

Notes

The programme is in DRAFT format only, and intended as a discussion and tentative planning tool. The dates and locations may change, or events may get removed entirely from the final programme.

Bookings are not taken for the draft programme, and can only be made once it is finalised; this is expected to be by January of next year.

Something Missing?

If you have an idea for an event for next year, please let us know so we can add it into the mix. If you’re able to canvas other members for their interest too, that would be fantastic and help get the event into the final programme.
